Dermal Fillers In Adelaide

As we age, we begin to lose fat under our skin, this results in loss of volume and skin laxity, asymmetry and fine lines and wrinkles. Dr. Erika Guerra can recreate the impression of a refine, refresh and youthful skin by recontouring and adding volume to the skin by using dermal fillers. Dermal fillers plump the skin creating symmetry, correcting minor imperfections and producing convex areas that reflect the light.

What are ‘fillers’ and which areas can be treated?

Dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid (HA) which is a sugar found naturally in our body. Hyaluronic acid attracts water resulting in volume and definition when injected into the desirable area, this reduces the signs of aging in the targeted area.

They are designed to fill out and smooth away lines, wrinkles and folds and to add volume to lips. Dermal fillers achieve a more youthful appearance of the face as they replace lost volume and improve the contour of the skin, resulting in a fresher, more youthful appearance. This is an excellent treatment for nasal labial folds (from the corner of the nose to the corner of the mouth), smile lines, lip enhancement and facial contouring (such as chins).

What is the filler?

HA (hyaluronic acid) is the main component of dermal fillers. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring molecule found within our skin. It is biocompatible and ideal for cosmetic medical purposes.

How Long do the results last?

HA fillers are not permanent. The longevity of the treatment depends on the product used, where it was injected and on each patient’s metabolism and skin health, however generally it last between six to twenty-four months. The denser the product and the deeper is injected the longer the results last. As time passes, the body will absorb the filler and if you wish to maintain the desired results, you will need to repeat the treatment.

What will happen during the treatment?

Following a through facial Phi analysis and detailed discussion of the proposed treatment plan; the treatment can be started straight away. The gel is injected into the skin in small amounts with a very fine needle, immediately lifting and smoothing out wrinkles with the natural volume it provides.

Dermal Filler Post-treatment Questions
  1. You can go back to work or carry on as normal with your daily routine
  2. Face may feel slightly numb for a couple of hours due to the application of numbing cream.

Follow the post-operative care and most importantly remember that the injections are placed in a precise position so please do NOT RUB the area for a few hours as this will move the product to other areas that we do not want them to go.

How long does the treatment take?

Treatment time varies depending the area that is treated, however at your first consultation we will discuss the approximate time the procedure will take.

How long will the treatment last?

This varies from individual to individual. It very much depends on factors such as a person’s age and lifestyle, the degree of correction required and the structure of the skin. Most patients choose to have a repeat treatment within a year, since the main component of the product (hyaluronic acid) is a natural substance which dissolves over time.

What are the possible side effects?
